Chinese Medicine and Meridian Therapies

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) dates back at least 4000 years. Although that it has gone through many changes it retains its holistic and effective approach towards resolving and preventing many health issues. Massage is one of the 5 pillars of Chinese Medicine; the other four being acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapy, and lifestyle.

Chinese medicine approaches the body as an integrated whole interconnected via energetic meridians or channels.  Through these channels flow chi (sometimes spelled qi, or ki,) which is the life force energy that carries with it blood, nutrients and movement throughout the body.   The saying goes, "when chi stops there is pain and when it moves there is vitality."

TCM provides a framework for the Japanese modality of Shiatsu-anma, which is all about moving chi to alleviate pain and promote balance.  Because of its Japanese background Shiatsu- anma is an effective integration of Western and Eastern sciences.  The therapies we offer address both the deep and connective tissues allowing speedy muscle recovery as well as activating the bodies self-healing and regulating mechanisms to optimize internal organ function.
